Thunder’s losing streak reaches 13 games with 129-109 loss to Wizards

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s losing streak now sits at 13-straight games after a 129-109 loss to the Washington Wizards on Friday.

All-Star and former league MVP Russell Westbrook returned once again to Chesapeake Energy Arena and dropped a triple-double on his former team, scoring 37 points with 11 assists and 11 rebounds.

The Thunder (20-40), which now sits just one game off its franchise record for consecutive losses, fell apart late, scoring just 41 points in the second half, including 19 in the fourth quarter.

Luguentz Dort made his return for Oklahoma City after missing the previous two games to nurse hip soreness.

He scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and came away with five steals. Rookie Aleksej Pokusevski, returning after leaving the team’s loss to the Pacers on Wednesday, chipped in eight points.

Darius Bazley and Theo Maledon each scored a team-high 20 points for the Thunder. Bazley also grabbed six rebounds while Maledon dished out a game-high eight assists.

Isaiah Roby added 18 points and eight boards off the bench.

The two teams exploded offensively in the first half, combining for 138 points as Oklahoma City trailed 70-68 at the break.

The Wizards continued to roll in the second half with 59 points while the Thunder hit a wall.

All-Star Bradley Beal also had a big night for Washington (26-33) with 33 points and six rebounds.

The win marked the seventh straight for the Wizards as they continue to battle for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
