Thunder vs Nets, final score: Big 4th quarter, last defensive stand deliver win, 109-108

The Oklahoma City Thunder trailed most of the night against a young Brooklyn Nets team, but outscored the Nets 35-23 in the fourth quarter behind solid bench scoring and a tremendous defensive effort to pull out a 109-108 victory. The win is the Thunder's 5th straight.

The Thunder trailed 85-74 going into the fourth quarter when Raymond Felton provided the spark that the Thunder desperately needed to climb back into the game. Felton scored the Thunder's first 10 points of the quarter and single-handedly pulled the momentum back into the Thunder's favor. The Thunder also got timely treys from Patrick Patterson and Josh Huestis that pulled them within a single possession of the lead.

Westbrook nailed two free throws that put the Thunder ahead 107-106. The Nets pulled right back ahead after a strong, left-handed finish from Spencer Dinwiddie. Westbrook responded with a strong layup, fighting through contact, to put the Thunder ahead 109-108.

In need of a stop, the Thunder depended on one of their defensive stoppers, Andre Roberson. Dinwiddie had just got a layup on a previous Nets possession and the Nets drew up a play to get Dinwiddie isolated. First, Roberson made it tough for Dinwiddie to catch the ball. Then, Dinwiddie had to make a quick, off-balance move just to get a semi-look at the basket. Then, Roberson finished it off with a stifling contest and Dinwiddie's three attempt hit the bottom of the backboard and the Thunder came away with the win.

The Thunder trailed by as many as 15, and had fight off the Nets’ hot shooting. The Nets hit 16 of 38 treys on the night and shot over 50% from the field for a majority of the game. The Thunder struggled offensively for much of the first half, with the only consistent offense coming from Paul George, who scored 18 in the first half.

The Thunder shot 42% from the field and only hit 7 treys on the night. They shot 22-of-32 from the free throw line and only had 12 assists as a team. The Thunder did, however, win the rebound battle 50-45. Also, they had 16 offensive rebounds and 8 steals. The stats may have not been the prettiest, but it goes to show how much the Thunder fought to pull out the win.

Westbrook led the Thunder with 32 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. George scored 28 points on 9-of-20 shooting and pulled down 9 boards. Carmelo Anthony struggled with 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Felton scored 14 points and gave the Thunder the much needed spark at the start of the 4th quarter.

Joe Harris led the Nets with 19 points. Dinwiddie and DeMarre Carroll scored 13 points apiece. Jarrett Allen posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Thunder return to action on Thursday night at home against the Washington Wizards.
