Thunder sign Charlie Brown Jr. to second 10-day contract

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed Charlie Brown Jr. to a second 10-day contract, the team announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Brown Jr. originally signed with the Thunder on April 25 for his first 10-day contract. Since then, he has played in three games for OKC and is averaging five points and 2.3 rebounds a game.

Brown Jr. had his best game in his lone start for the Thunder against the Indiana Pacers last Saturday, where he put up eight points and five rebounds in 27 minutes.

This second 10-day contract will expire on May 15, one day before the regular-season finale against the LA Clippers.

This means that this second 10-day window will most likely decide whether or not Brown Jr. is with the franchise next season, either with the Thunder or their G League affiliate — the OKC Blue.

Teams can only sign players to two 10-day contracts during a season. Otherwise, the player either walks or is signed for the rest of the regular season. Considering the Thunder’s situation, the likelihood that they sign Brown Jr. for the rest of the season (one extra day) is pretty low.

Brown Jr. went undrafted in 2019 and appeared in 10 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season.

In 13 games in the G League Bubble, Brown Jr. averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and shot 35.5% from three on nearly five attempts for the Iowa Wolves.
