Thunder drop 5th-straight with 118-97 loss to Warriors

The Oklahoma City Thunder dropped its fifth straight loss Friday despite a career performance from Ty Jerome.

The Golden State Warriors won 118-97.

The second-year guard out of Virginia tied his career-high with 23 points in a 118-97 loss to the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. Jerome also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in just over 22 minutes off the bench.

The Warriors (34-33) were led by two-time MVP Steph Curry, who scored a game-high 34 points to seven helpers. He went 6-for-13 from the three-point range and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Mychal Mulder torched Oklahoma City as well with 25 points off the bench, including seven three-pointers.

Andrew Wiggins (18), Jordan Peele (14), and Kent Bazemore (13) also scored in double figures for Golden State. Three-time All-Star Draymond Green grabbed nine rebounds, dished out nine assists, and scored five points.

Darius Bazley chipped in 22 points, while rookie Theo Maledon scored 15 with eight assists for the Thunder (21-46). Oklahoma City head coach Mark Daigneault went 11 deep and played 10 at least 15 minutes.

The loss keeps the Thunder within striking distance of the top-three in the ping pong ball race. With the win, the Warriors remain in line for a spot in the league’s new play-in tournament.

The two teams meet again Saturday at Chase Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.
