The Oklahoma City Thunder have announced that they have signed Jaylen Hoard.
This comes on the same day that they announced they had released Rob Edwards.
It looks like Hoard will be taking Edwards’ spot for the rest of training camp and preseason. Edwards, along with D.J. Wilson, were training camp invites.
Hoard has a little bit more skin on his wall.
The 22-year-old has played 32 NBA games with the Portland Trail Blazers and Thunder over the last two seasons.
Hoard participated in the past Summer League with the Thunder, where he averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in five games. Hoard would get released from the Thunder this past August.
In his first stint with the Thunder last year, Hoard averaged 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 19 games. Hoard will most likely suffer the same fate as Edwards.
If all goes well, he will not make the NBA roster for Opening Night but could be assigned to the Thunder’s G League team — the Oklahoma City Blue.
Hoard will now have two preseason games to get some action and make an impression this Wednesday and Thursday against the Denver Nuggets.
