Russell Westbrook Named Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29

Congratulations to Russell Westbrook who, after signing his new contract extension, went on to elevate his game and in the process earned NBA Player of the Week honors for the week of January 23rd through January 29th.

During this past week, the Thunder went 3-0 with wins over the Pistons, Hornets, and Warriors.

Despite a rocky start to the season, Westbrook has come on as of late with a stat line that his co-winner LeBron James would appreciate. In these three past games, Westbrook averaged 22 points, 7.3 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3.3 steals.

Last season, on his way to his first all-star appearance and Second-Team All-NBA honors, Westbrook also collected the Player of the Week designation four different times. Funny how pundits often overlook that fact when discussing whether Westbrook is 'overrated.' Methinks he's just getting warmed up.
