In the middle of the night, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz have agreed on a trade that would send Derrick Favors to OKC.

The Thunder will receive a future first-round pick in exchange for taking his $19.9 million salary over the next two seasons. The Thunder gave up a 2027 second-round pick and cash considerations to the Jazz.

This is the third future first-round pick that the Thunder have gained in the last 12 hours, after acquiring two from the Rockets in a trade that sent Alperen Sengun to Houston.

This is essentially a salary dump for the Jazz as they try to re-sign Mike Conley this offseason.

This trade will soften the blow of the inevitable luxury tax they will have to pay if they bring back the All-Star guard.

Favors will make 9.7M this season with a player option of 10.2M for the 2022-23 season that he will most likely pick up.

The 30-year-old veteran averaged 5.4 points and 5.5 rebounds with the Jazz last season in his second stint with Utah.
